The Power of Social Media....

I learned a very valuable lesson this week about the power of Social Media. Believe it or not, many companies now have Social Media departments, and are out there on the inter-webs searching for hits on their brands. I am assuming that they are looking for “good” news as well as “bad” news, but I can definitely say that they are looking for anything negative about their brand, and they seem to respond rather quickly when they find it. About 2 weeks ago our dryer once again died. One minute it was working fine, and the next, no more heat. We have a home warranty, that we really keep for big-ticket items; however it has been helpful when our various household appliances have gone rogue on us. We have had to repair the dishwasher, the oven, the air conditioning unit, the furnace, and of course the dryer. If you have any experience with warranty companies, then you know...

How Did She Know.....

I was hoping to make it to the gym today for the Air Force WOD, but it wasn’t in the cards. Life intervened and I had to be home to meet the dryer repairman. Unfortunately the dryer is still not working, though not for lack of effort on the repairman’s behalf. He didn’t have the part that was needed and when he tried 3 different resources to get the part they were either closed or unavailable. So this weekend will be spent chauffeuring laundry back and forth from the laundromat. I am disappointed that I didn’t make it to the gym to finish out the week with a strong workout. Especially after the fact that I wasn’t going to go to the gym at all this week. Monday, Nick was sick and Hubs had to get to the train station in Newport News. By the time I got home I didn’t have the time or energy to change and go. Tuesday was the original date for the dryer repair,...

1 Day Down, 24 to Go.....

This weeks prompt  says “The first of December is upon us! Describe an Advent Calendar or a special way you count down days until Christmas (past or present).” Yes, the first of December is upon us, which means that it is time to start counting down the days to Christmas. We have a very special Advent Calendar to help us in this endeavor. We have had this particular advent calendar for many years. I believe we received this as a gift back in 2000 after my youngest cherub was born. As you can see, this is a Winnie the Poo Advent Calendar complete with all your favorite residents of the Hundred Acre Woods. Everyday, the cherubs take turns moving either a present, an, ornament, or a character from the appropriate day to the big Christmas tree. There are no rules or guidelines as to where they can place the marker, with one exception. Nothing is to go on the top of the tree until...

Some people say that Monday’s get a bad wrap. I’m not so sure. On a good Monday, it is hard to get back into the swing of things after a weekend; but this one came after a 5 day hiatus from work. I definitely wasn’t looking forward to it. Add to that the fact that I really haven’t slept in a couple of days, so I am off the charts...

My Writing Week In Review....

Well, Another week down and only 3 more days left in the NaBloPoMo November challenge. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think what I am most interested to see is whether or not I will carry this daily posting over into the upcoming months. It has not always been easy to post everyday. Between life intervening, and work, and the gym...

No Place Like Home....

Ahhh….. Dorothy was right. There is no place like home. As much as I enjoyed visiting family and going to the Backyard Brawl, I am very glad to be home. True, I hate being cooped up in the car, and don’t look forward to unpacking or the laundry, but I do look forward to sleeping in my own bed. . Yesterday was a long day. We didn’t...

Let's Go Mountaineers!!!

If you didn’t know, we are big Mountaineer fans in this family. WVU is where I met hubs almost 25 years ago, when we were both students there. You may also know that our daughter Mykal is currently a student and proud Mountaineer, as well; and last night during the game, my son Con sent me a text that he has made his decision to become a Mountaineer...
